Herb; leaves radical, thick, fleshy; inflorescence umbel, subtended by two spathaceous bracts with linear bracteoles; flowers white, sub sessile; fruits sub-globose.

Distribution :    Wild, often grown as ornamental plant.

Uses :  Bulb used in dipsomania and gonorrhoea; leaves used in inflammation.
