A large shrub or small tree; nearly evergreen; leaves stalked, oblong-lanceolate; acuminate, glabrous; flowers stalked, on short branchlets; fruits tubercled; seeds oblong.

Distribution : Planted in house gardens.

Uses :  Roots used as purgative; roots, bark and leaves used in jaundice.
